    Default 8.8.2008 Teh Magical Day?

8.8.8, the magical day is today. Well, at least it has worked for me in poker . I played 142 hands of PLO200 shorthanded today + some PLO1000 6-max too and got ~1000€ profit in that 1h 30min span, so I am quite happy. Most of the monies came from a finnish LAG player which I read pretty well, and for sure I can say "owned" pretty hard too.

    Last hand before he bustoed:

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $2/$2
    4 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $84.85
    HERO: $801.80
    SB: $349.05
    BB: $37.00

    Pre-flop: (4 players) HERO is Button with J 2 K J
UTG calls, HERO raises to $10, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls.

    Flop: 2 T J ($40, 4 players)
SB checks, BB is all-in $27, UTG folds, HERO calls, SB raises to $148, HERO raises to $511, SB calls all-in $191.05.
Uncalled bets: $171.95 returned to HERO.

    Turn: 6 ($745.1, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $121, Sidepot 1: $624.1)

    River: T ($745.1, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $121, Sidepot 1: $624.1)

    Results:
    Final pot: $745.1
    HERO shows J 2 K J
    SB shows 8 9 A J
    BB shows A 3 K 3

Note the underlined flop call to induce a push from a LAG. I consider that pretty expert play.

Last month I ended down about ~$2.7k in poker, this month I am already up ~$1.8k, so looks much better.

What else...well, I have done some update stuff on this site - not all of it are visible to users at all. Actually less than half of it. We hope for some exciting new developements during this month content-wise if everything goes well, but we´ll see. Keep on waiting for some good stuff from our team.

At the moment there´s last golf major of the year going on. I have some bets on the winner for this event, ehich you can see at PGA Championship betting thread. At the moment things good quite good. My horses are at positions:

    J.B Homes T3
    Ken Duke T3
    Ryan Moore T8
    Henrik Stenson T15
    D.J Trahan T22
    Boo Weekely T22

Others are "dead" already. Would be nice to hit some ~150 multiplier bet on this and a few thousand $$$, but competition is still young. Let´s see the standings after 3rd round, they will tell much more.

After 3/4 rounds, things are looking OK from my point of view.

Player Position Score Possible Net Win
    J.B Holmes T2 -1 $2,756
    H. Stenson T2 -1 $1,006
    A. Romero T7 +2 $2,156

Other "horses" don´t have a chance anymore.
Leader is at -2, so I have two betted players in the last group of three players.

ONE TIME DEALER, ONE TIME, PLEASE!

    Default 18.8.2008 Poker After Bar

I named this entry "Poker After Bar" - a little relation to well known poker show "Poker After Dark".

I don't know if it's a common habit among gamblers, but at least for me and for a few poker playing friends I know well it is - "poker after bar" I mean. If I am not like black out tired, I usually launch a few tables on weekend morning after a night out (under influence).

I have noticed that being drunk doesn't affect to my play much at all. Actually, sometimes it makes the game better adding a bit more aggression and good calls.

Yesterday I came from a bar + after party about 6.30AM and launched up two shorthanded PLO500 tables. A couple of nice hands occured.

Hand #1. In this one I had already played ~20 hands in this table. Opponent is a fish I know from before, so I put him on basically aces pre-flop and I am happy to take a flop with my low rundown against a fish in position. From the flop he stacks off with naked aces (as expected).

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$5
    6 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    HERO: $799.10
    UTG+1: $109.00
    CO: $1.030.25
    Button: $432.85
    SB: $127.00
    BB: $739.65

    Pre-flop: (6 players) HERO is UTG with 4 5 6 2
HERO raises to $20, 2 folds, Button calls, SB calls, BB raises to $95, HERO calls, 2 folds.

    Flop: T 4 5 ($230, 2 players)
    BB bets $240, HERO raises all-in $699.1, BB calls all-in $399.65.
Uncalled bets: $59.45 returned to HERO.

    Turn: 4 ($1509.3, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $1509.3)

    River: K ($1509.3, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $1509.3)

    Results:
    Final pot: $1509.3
    HERO shows 4 5 6 2
    BB shows 8 A J A

Hand #2. In this hand, I sat down about 15 hands earlier /this from the other table I played at than the hand #1. Opponent is an unknown to me before, but jost won a $2.5k pot (from HUGE fish) to run up a huge stack. Usually when these guys get a big stack, they start to get a bit ****y. I think he thinks that he can bully up the whole table now and is invincible or something. But don't start to f**k up with me.

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$5
    4 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $518.00
    Button: $312.00
    SB: $5.250.75
    HERO: $514.00

    Pre-flop: (4 players) HERO is BB with A 7 K A
2 folds, SB raises to $10, HERO raises to $40, SB calls.

    Flop: 4 J 3 ($80, 2 players)
SB checks, HERO bets $65, SB raises to $285, HERO raises all-in $404, SB calls.

    Turn: Q ($888, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $888)

    River: 2 ($888, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $888)

    Results:
    Final pot: $888
    HERO shows A 7 K A
    SB shows 5 A 2 5

I snapped the flop and he sucked out. That's poker.

Hand #3. Now this hand is against the very same opponent as the hand above. I put him on a move - can't see him having a deuce here ever.

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$5
    3 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    Button: $5.943.90
    HERO: $766.95
    BB: $283.60

    Pre-flop: (3 players) HERO is SB with K K 5 Q
Button calls, HERO raises to $15, BB folds, Button calls.

    Flop: 4 9 2 ($35, 2 players)
    HERO checks, Button checks.

    Turn: 2 ($35, 2 players)
HERO bets $45, Button raises to $145, HERO calls.

    River: T ($325, 2 players)
HERO checks, Button bets $300, HERO calls.

    Results:
    Final pot: $925
    Button shows 8 A Q J
    HERO shows K K 5 Q

I think this hand expresses pretty well the difference between low stakes and mid stakes PLO - according to what kind of a plays you have to be able to make to make decent profit (from both of us point of view - calling and raising). His play is good if I were an ABC-nittish, but this time he did this against a wrong person.

I played 35mins two tables and gained $2k, even though I lost two 55-45's for a buy-in each, so pretty nice "after bar" session. Then went to bed. This month now up $4.5k in poker after 3900 hands. Hopefully I can get one grind month this year still - last 4 months have went mostly for working on a launch of this site. Well, maybe at December or something when things have stabled a bit I have time for some poker grind. Game is in good form right now at least .

    Default 20.8.2008 Some Grind

Have been playing a bit poker now last two days. Not real grind - under 6k hands this month, but I am happy with my results this far (over $1 per hand is very satisfying at mid-stakes).

Yesterday I played ~30min HU match 2-tabling against a finnish (pro?) "zYnee", who keeps somewhat popular poker blog here (in finnish). I wanted to see what kind of a player he is HU, definitely there are better spots if one wants to make best money, but sometimes it's a good idea to play against competent winning players to keep your game sharp.

Still I think he made a big mistake in this one hand:

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$5
    2 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    HERO: $360.00
    zYnee: $1.037.25

    Pre-flop: (2 players) HERO is SB with J A K Q
HERO raises to $10, zYnee calls.

    Flop: 8 J T ($20, 2 players)
zYnee checks, HERO bets $20, BB raises to $90, HERO raises to $300, zYnee raises to $510, HERO calls all-in $45.
Uncalled bets: $165 returned to zYnee.

    Turn: 8 ($719, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $719)

    River: 7 ($719, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $719)

    Results:
    Final pot: $719
    zYnee shows 8 8 6 A
    HERO shows J A K Q
    zYnee wins $719.

He's bottom set here in only normal 2-bet pre-flop pot can't be in any good shape. This time I had a hand which is worst end of my range (not a bigger set or made straight) and still he is trailing 46-54 against my draw on the flop. Bad play from his part, IMO.

Biggest hand of the match was following:

    Poker Room skin
    Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
    Blinds: $5/$5
    2 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    HERO: $678.50
    zYnee: $1.225.75

    Pre-flop: (2 players) HERO is SB with 6 4 5 6
HERO raises to $10, zYnee raises to $40, HERO calls.

    Flop: 2 5 3 ($80, 2 players)
zYnee bets $65, HERO raises to $285, zYnee raises to $945, HERO calls all-in $348.5.
Uncalled bets: $311.5 returned to BB.

    Turn: 2 ($1356, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $1356)

    River: A ($1356, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $1356)

    Results:
    Final pot: $1356
    zYnee shows Q A A 2
    HERO shows 6 4 5 6
    zYnee wins $1,356.

Pretty standard HU hand, a small 59-41 bad beat for me again.

I ended that match down ~$300 I think, which I consider a good result taking above two hands into account.

I played a bit more today and now I have following graph for the month:

I'll try to get a few more thousand hands in this month to break 5-fig $$$ barrier for the month now.

Then I pick my betsize - I have quite a healthy bankroll, so I of course want to minimize the variance (picking 100-play JoB Video Poker as a game) and maximize the hourly rate (picking maximum bet size - 50€ per hand). Then I divide the wagering requirement (6000€) with my bet size (50€) and the result gives me 120. So I have to go my 50-card deck throught twice plus 20 hands on top of that to complete wagering. This "deck of cards"-system is quite good when there´s no automatic tracking available on the casino. Always when I hit "deal"-button, I remove one card from the deck. I go deck through twice this way + 20 cards on top of that.
i got this alternative idea when i read your style first time:

i open calculator and press 1 + 1, now when i press "=" -button it always add one.
u can example press once for every new deal with 3 BJ hands to get approximate wager or press 3 times for every new deal and once for every double and split

Default 23.8.2008 Sick DOWNSWING, BEAT, EVERYTHING, BUSTO

    Well, not quite BUSTO yet.

Okei. First teh August GRAPH update:

Graph isn't quite accurate, actually I'm up ~$3000 for the month because of some gain in €€€-tables.

So, how did this $10k downswing happened? I admit that ~$3k of it was my own stupidity. Playing very tired in bad tables. But the rest of it was just terrible beats and setups. A few examples:

    Heads-up cooler: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=600360030 -$1000

Insta-call from villain to my raise on flop. 55/45 for me on flop: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=136418704 -$1000

OMG OMG OMG runner-runner beat. 87/13 for me on the flop: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=167347130 -$1000

Pretty effing nice equity when basically all the money goes in pre-flop. I call this dominated hand, IMO: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=416073870 -$650

Looks pretty effing nice on the flop don't you think: http://www.pokerihanska.com/?h=962584216 -$450

    etc. etc. etc.

Well, even though running this sick bad, I am still well up for the month, so I am pretty confident for my game at the moment. Actually feeling pretty sick dominant at mid-stakes short-handed at the moment.

Now I am taking one day off and will do some update stuff for this site with others. Well, first I am getting drunk today.

    Have a nice evening!

Edit: BTW, I won 12.10€ at finnish lottery last weekend, hey yeah!

Edit2: More game introduction videos are coming, which one of them shows 1:1,900,000 chance occurance to happen in gambling!!! Stay tuned!
