I have been playing quite alot of omaha hi/lo recently. I was thinking of moving to omaha high because of better action. I have been playing PLO 50 (mostly full ring). My question actually is: what is the best way to learn omaha high. Have you read books/articles or did you just learn by playing. I have bought a few books but should I get more "field experience" before I start reading.

To be honest I dont know much about those books. I just have a slight picture and it's very much negative. I just prefer playing and trying plenty of different moves. Thats how I learned my game. Just try every betsize, supersick calls, thin value etc...

Try those hu and short-handed tables they are better than full. Its obviously a good move to read something before begin. Just remember to appreciate more that "field experience" than books. Gl.

1. I played str8 plo100 and I feel like it's best to start high cause those plo10 games are something different. Ofc. depends a lot about ones BR, but if there is for example 500 available I would say that plo50 with 50BB buy-in is fine.

2. Putting pressure, playing position, right bet sizes, playing the opponent (different aggression every time).

3. I feel today that plo500 and smaller are easy and plo1k and 2k beatable with good poker.

4. Too much calling, bad bluffers and overplaying on big pots.

5. 3-betting and opening OOP and bluffing against a bad players.

6. I've worked some serious hours with a good quality. I also do fine with different level of aggression and that's such a important to mix it suitable. Also I play well on DS which helps a lot (nevertheless DS's sucks).

7. Hmm...We'll see.


My 2009 has started fine in a result point of view. I think that I've broke +80k$ and my poker has not been as serious (hours, mind) as 2008 second part was.
